ZURA stands for Zanzibar utilities regulatory authority

ZURA is responsible for technical and economic regulation of the electricity, petroleum, Liquefied Petroleum (LPG) and water sectors in Zanzibar

  1. Licensing, tariff review, monitoring performance and standards with regards to quality, safety, health and environment.
  2. Promoting effective competition and economic efficiency, protecting the interest of consumers and promoting the availability of regulated services to all consumers.

ZURA was established in 2013 under the ZURA Act no.7 of 2013

ZURA was established because Zanzibar needed a Regulatory Body to monitor the  Water  and Energy sectors

The yellow colour represents energy and the drop symbol represents water
